Food Technology & Nutrition Students Visited Hydroponics Centre
12.07.2024
The students of the course recently visited the Vegetable Marketing Organization and its iVeggie hydroponic centre. Hydroponics is a sustainable agriculture method of planting plants in water-based mineral nutrient solutions, with the benefits of being space-saving, highly water-efficient, less affected by adverse weather conditions, and enabling year-round crop production without interruption.
Hydroponics has also been used in outer space, with various countries researching growth efficiency, nutrient intake, and disease control of different plants in low-gravity environments. In addition, the students also learned about the local vegetable distribution system, operational models, trends in local agricultural development, etc.
