Adapted ApL courses are designed for students with special education needs. They focus on nurturing students' knowledge, skills and attitudes. The emphasis is to provide students with opportunities to understand fundamental theories and concepts through application and practice, develop knowledge, generic skills, positive values and attitudes through providing simulated or authentic contexts, and explore their orientation for lifelong learning and career aspirations.
Adapted ApL is one of the senior secondary elective subjects for students with intellectual disability. To cater for the diverse needs of schools and students, Other Learning Experience programmes can be organized both within and across subject areas to complement different school-based activities such as Project-based Learning, Other Learning Experiences, Life-wide Learning etc.; the duration, schedule and venue of the programme can also be flexibly arranged.
